Thank you, Mr Ashley

Thanks Mike - just as the retail sector is gearing up for clearance bargains, you've decided to take the club off the market. Presumably you didn't fancy hawking a £200 million+ 'asset' around a marketplace already saturated with Woolies and Zavvi cast offs.

I wonder how many fans are going to choke on their pre-match hot dogs as they read in the programme :-

"For me 2009 will be the year in which we drive the club forward together"

Forward? Well, I suppose its a better direction than downwards. I keep hoping that there is a plan here somewhere...But I doubt it. I had to use this image... a barcode, not being sold...

I know that today's game will be remembered for one thing - that will be the tributes that are being paid to a great man - who has more dignity in his little finger than Ashley seems to have ever had. Sir Bobby Robson. Watch and learn Mike.

just heard the news miuntes before KO.. not that surprising I must say..
as for direction, if you're looking at the Championship I guess downwards is forwards..
I'm feelign sorry for Sir Bobby - he looked as if they had literally dragged ihm away from hom to witness this...
Now we're stuck with JFK and MyCashley forever.. or at least another season.. and no hope of going anywhere but down...
Let's hope that Mort comes back (at least that'll mean some sort of communication) and that Dreck Lambaste and DirtyDenis are getting paid a considerable sum to f*** with some else's club...

I turned the telly off as soon as the first goal went in.
Injuries are no excuse - look at how many players Everton have got out.
I'd call Owen's bluff now and announce he's up for sale. When was the last time he did anything against a top club? As for the rest of them...

Damage for yesterday was mainly done by Wigan... the missing Beye and Bassong would have made a difference... But not that much.

The saddest thing for me about yesterday was that I wasn't suprised by the result, or the performance, or the lack of passion. It was all so predictable.

it was like a car crash, I just had to watch... it's a blessing that we're not on telly against Hull... based on yesterday's no-show I don't fancy wor chances one bit, Bassong back or not...
as for 2009 - I won't tempt fate by saying "at least it can't get worse".
Guess we should wish each other a lucky new year as opposed to 'happy'.
